Support meals & education for 5,000 children in Varanasi
The Akshaya Patra Foundation has been a part of India’s mid-day meal scheme for over two decades. The NGO runs one of the world’s largest (not-for-profit run) mid-day meal programs, serving wholesome food to over 2 million children from 20,000 schools across 14 states and two union territories in India.
Prime Minister, Narendra Modi recently inaugurated Akshaya Patra’s Varanasi kitchen which is the 62nd kitchen and will serve 100,000 children every day. For most of the children, it is the only meal they get throughout the day. The mid-day meals serve as an incentive for parents to send their children to school to get educated and have nourished meals.
