Over the course of many years, child rights organizations have expanded their interests
in child welfare to address all the needs of a child. From education, protection, poverty
and basic access to health & nutrition, the efforts are now deeply rooted in addressing
all causes of inequality.
This year’s theme is Inclusion, For Every Child.
Inclusivity is at the heart of what we do at Akshaya Patra. Our goal is to include and empower all children, regardless of gender, caste, religion, or economic status, to achieve their dreams and goals. Our school lunch program provides children with sustained access to nutritious food, consequently reducing food insecurity amongst the most underserved populations in India. We are constantly innovating and redesigning our menus to improve the nutritional value of our meal program.
By providing nutritious meals, we are not only addressing the nutrition gap between the haves & have nots, but we are also providing children with access to obtaining an education and alleviating their families’ concerns over how they may feed their children. Our program incentivizes families to send their children to school and allows children to concentrate in school, thereby providing opportunities to dismantle the cycle of intergenerational poverty.
